不良研究所 Students Recipients of Provincial Scholarships

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON May 25, 2023) 鈥 不良研究所 is proud to announce that three of its nursing students have been awarded scholarships from the Registered Nurses鈥 Foundation of Ontario (RNFOO) for 2023. These awards recognize the outstanding achievements and potential of these students in the field of nursing.

The first scholarship, the Karim Moosa Memorial Scholarship, was awarded to Cheryl Osawabine-Peltier a first year Practical Nursing student. Cheryl was chosen for this award because of her demonstrated deep care and compassion, as well as a commitment to working with the elderly population.

鈥淧rior to enrolling in the Practical Nursing program at 不良研究所, I worked as the Administrator for a long-term care facility. During my tenure, I focused on making the place more of a "home" for the residents. As the facility was situated in an Indigenous community, I focused on incorporating the culture and language within the home,鈥 said Cheryl. 鈥We received global recognition in how well we ran the long-term care facility. I chose to enroll in nursing because I have seen first-hand how staffing shortages, particularly registered staffing shortages, impact the care of the residents and I want to do my part. I have every intention of returning to long-term care upon graduation and continuing to make a difference,鈥 she added.

The second scholarship, the RNFOO Undergraduate Scholarship for Year 1 or 2, was awarded to first year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) student Robbi Imbeault for demonstrating high academic standing and potential to make outstanding contributions to nursing.

鈥淚 have been a paramedic here in the Sault for the past eight years and last year I decided to switch to a part-time schedule and apply to the Honours BScN program. I have been working two 12 hour shifts every weekend and attending classes Monday through Friday. While this schedule is demanding, I have been having such a fantastic time here at 不良研究所 and I am so proud to receive this award. I am grateful to the RNFOO for their time and dedication to my education and to the future of nursing students across Ontario. Their support is so appreciated. I also want to say thank you to my beautiful wife whose love and encouragement is endless and thank you to my study group who have become my best friends,鈥 added Robbi.

The third scholarship, the Mildred Grace Harbour Memorial Scholarship, was awarded to a full-time student enrolled in a baccalaureate program leading to a Registered Nurse designation. Applicants were required to provide evidence of their ability to inspire others, and their practice of caring above and beyond standard expectations. 不良研究所 is proud to have second year Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing student, Md Tanvir Ahmed, receive this award. 鈥淩eceiving the Mildred Grace Harbour Memorial Scholarship from the Registered Nurses Foundation of Ontario is a great honour for me as a nursing student. This award holds significant value to me as it not only provides financial assistance but also serves as a motivation to continue striving for excellence in both my academic and professional pursuits. It reinforces my unwavering commitment to making a positive impact within the healthcare and nursing profession.鈥

The Registered Nurses鈥 Foundation of Ontario enhances and advances nursing practice by raising funds and providing awards and scholarships to Ontario nurses and nursing students in all programs, including RN, RPN, and RN-EC, and at every level, including Masters and Doctorate. 不良研究所 is honored to have its students recognized by such a respected organization.

不良研究所 is committed to providing its students with the education and experience needed to excel in the field of nursing and is proud to see its students recognized for their outstanding achievements. Congratulations to all the recipients of the RNFOO scholarships.
